It’s hard to admit but I’m one of those moms who work too much and say way too often that ‘let’s think about it later’. After this whole new life with even more on my plate at the same time, I find it even harder to be present and have enough time for everything. So I made a promise to change that.
We often think that kids want to have huge things if we let them so we avoid listening. In our own head, letting them decide leads straight away to Disneyland, eating only donuts all day and having a pony or five. The truth is that the actual wishes of our kids are a hell lot simpler than that. They want us to present. They want to draw together, bake something, go for a walk or sleep beside you.
After this new life order of homeschooling, social distancing and the pressure of juggling this all I made a promise. I will listen more and I will make it happen, one wish at the time. You don’t have to do it all at once. You don’t have to be a supermom or a super co-worker, CEO or whatever you feel pressured to be 24/7. It’s enough to do it one wish at the time.
We started yesterday by doing a drawing challenge before the homeschooling of the day. Tiny, tiny gesture but what a great vibe it created! You can check out the super simple instructions from my IG here.
Today I remembered having this giant soap bubble kit in my gift stash. (Yes, I have a gift stash, it helps a lot when there’s suddenly four birthday parties in the same week. Although now the situation is a bit different and the stash is obviously untouched.) After my daughter finished all the school work she had for the day, I got the bubble kit out and the rest is history.
It only takes one wish at the time to be present. Tomorrow we will have a collage art moment and on Saturday she wanted to have a brunch with croissants. Simple, yet so effective for both of us. Even my own mood has enormously improved via this fairy (god)mother movement. ♡
P.S. If you find the whole situation so hard that you struggle even with the tiniest tasks, do not feel pressured to make it like a Disneyland. The point of this post is also to remind you that sometimes keeping the kids simply alive and hugging them is more than enough. ♡
I love face mist. I like the refreshing feeling when used during the day and the hydrating essence of them. The problem is that I couldn’t find the face mist of my dreams even I tried. I have just three rules for mists (and cosmetics in general too) but it seems that market is seriously …
I always wish I had more time to DIY stuff and my Pinterest and notebooks are full of ideas I never have time to actually do. This time I decided to go for it and we ended up having so much fun with my daughter on this small but lovely project.
Learning new skills and developing and discovering yourself is mainly privately done hard work but sometimes it helps to find some spark and inspiration from someone else too. I have taken several different workshops and courses during this year and last one and I think those might inspire you too.
You know those delicious images of mugs full of green and foamy drink that have taken over Instagram? As a serious coffee addict I’m usually quite sceptical about other drinks but I felt so drawn to this beautiful green drink so I decided to give it a go and learn a bit more about it. …
