I’m SO excited! I think I’ve found a new passion and a hobby at the same time!
I’ve always been fascinated by natural, muted tones and unexpectancy in its every form. When I photograph, I try to capture something organic, light, water, smoke, and the same goes with everything else too. Spray paint, watercolor, marbling paper, hand lettering, and whatever medium that gives me the lovely surprises. You never know what the end result is going to be.
A few years ago I did quite a lot of fabric dyeing too but mainly with synthetic colors from screen printing to washing machine dye. It was fun but in some way, something was always missing. Now I finally had some time to try out this more surprising technique with botanical dyes and I have to tell you that I’m seriously in love! Look at these beauties!
These are my first attempts and what I also like in this is the trial and error method which gives me so much joy! Some of the pieces are so very beautiful but some others, well aren’t. 😀
One part of this is to find new ways to do something fun without the pressure to be productive all the time. That’s something I quite often struggle with so this is a perfect hobby for the summertime to come. I can just try out different things and see where it leads me.
I try to document this new path too as I’m pretty sure that these are not going to be the last ones. I’ve gathered some more material to try this out in different ways and with different natural ingredients. At the moment my favorites are these lovely pillowcases I found from several second hand stores. They have even the initials embroidered in them! ♡
Now they also have colors from my Mother’s Day peonies, old dried roses, rusty nails behind our office building, and some tea in them and a whole new life!

When I was a kid, I used to bury myself on the sofa with a pile of books I had borrowed from the library. Some things seem not to change that much. We haven’t had a sofa for years (or TV either) but the pile of books is still essential part of my everyday life.
Sometimes we forget what makes us spark and end up in the endless loop of mundane tasks which leave us exhausted and with feeling that we haven’t done anything. I have some thoughts about that and a small challenge for you today, dive in!
