We have this birthday tradition with my daughter that she picks the theme and I do my magic. This year she wished to have a Minnie Mouse birthday party, so I’ve been seeing dots for several weeks now. Everything culminated on Saturday when the actual party took place at our home.
I really like arranging theme parties but I’m not that fond of buying everything readymade so I’m always looking for some creative solutions to make it work.
After we had the theme of this years party, I’ve been collecting DIY material and other suitable stuff. Table cloth is combined from two dotted leftover pieces from the fabric store and the main decoration came from dotted napkins turned on bow ties.
On the walls I made several different sized Minnies from black cardboard and napking bow ties. The easiest way to do this is to cut out different sized circles using plates and then just put the whole Minnie together with tape.
Napkin bow ties were super easy to make and as those are very light, it went well on the walls too and even on the mouse eared headband of the birthday girl.
I’m always late with the invitations, so I sent them out via email. Theme was shown on the image attached and via that, lot of presents were Minnie themed too. I used the same image to make a birthday card, just printed it out on sturdy cardboard.
The cake is the self-evident center piece of the party and this year I’m super proud of myself as its not only themed by color, decoration and appearance but it’s also baked without any eggs, milk, soy, gluten or nuts in any form. It took me a while but yay, I made it!
All the other sweets were suitable in the same way too to make sure everybody could eat everything. The rest of the decoration came from dotted paper straws, dotted plates and dotted popcorn boxes which I bought from the party store as I was running out of time in the end of the week.
All our tableware is black already, so adding some red and dots really did the trick.
On the top of that only thing we needed were few black balloons with red ribbon and the most important part, our lovely guests who really made the party. Thank you so much for coming! I hope I could transmit even a little bit of that joy, laughter and warmness for you too via these photos.
Oh, and if you liked these photos, could you do me a favour? Pin your favourite to Pinterest, so someone else can find these too and maybe get some inspiration and help to party planning too. Thank you so much!
