It started as a small DIY idea to do with my daughter and ended up being the quite accurate entry of the feelings right now. Kinda like Corona Diaries of this very moment.
Instructions are super easy. Just pick up a pile of magazines, scissors, glue and go with the flow. We started by looking for words that spoke to us (or sounded fun!) and then arranged those as small poemlike layouts.
Mine says ‘Hi, look! Coffee makes it easier for beauties‘ and ‘Yesterday technology stress, today taking it easy green thumbs ready‘. The one my daughter did says ‘Can you see? The best personal magic trick. Secretly some sweets.’ (A bit hard to translate but that’s roughly the point!)
All the products I design have a story behind them. Some longer than others and some more important. That goes also with client work. I think there should always be the story, the reason, the why before anything is designed, established or branded.
I document and reflect my life in many ways but one of the most insightful is definitely monthly review. I tried different versions of this and last year it finally molded in this form as it is now. For February I just finished doing my monthly review so now it’s a great time to tell …
When I was a kid, I used to bury myself on the sofa with a pile of books I had borrowed from the library. Some things seem not to change that much. We haven’t had a sofa for years (or TV either) but the pile of books is still essential part of my everyday life.
We have a tendency to avoid the hard parts. To postpone the difficult task and to procrastinate the ones that make us uncomfortable. No need to be ashamed though, that’s only a very human thing to do. Eat the frog is a technique that helps you go over that.
